THE WISDOM OF GOD
Part 1 of a 2 part study
True wisdom goes beyond knowledge; it is applying that knowledge in a life-changing way.
Part 1 of a 2 part study
True wisdom goes beyond knowledge; it is applying that knowledge in a life-changing way.
“Your commands make wiser than my enemies, for your commands are my constant guide.” Psalm 119:98
Read Proverbs 1
God’s wisdom does not intend to hurt us, it intends to help us. Some ignore wisdom and pay no attention as they do the opposite of its instruction. Proverbs 1 verse 26 we see wisdom laughing, seeming to indicate that God is laughing at our misfortune, wrong, God would not mock fun of us in that manner, rather He is showing us how wrong we are to ignore wisdom. We should not ignore God’s advice. There will come a time when we will be judged for not listening to God and His wisdom. It will be too late come Judgment Day to repent and turn away from our wicked ways. Genesis 6:3 clearly tells us that God “will not put up with humans…” God will judge at that time and there will be no turning back then.
Salvation belongs to those who are wise and heed the voice of God. For those who fear Him and listen to wisdom will be safe, without fear of any evil. We should have the confidence that comes when knowing that God is with us because we have listened to Wisdom.
We should not ignore the wisdom that God has sent to us. We should listen intently to the Gospel message and accept with joy what God has sent us, the blessings and salvation that we enjoy confident and without fear knowing that we dwell with Him.
I. Wisdom is available to every man, no man needs to be a failure.
• The wisdom of God is at our disposal
• It is present in us and with us
• God’s abilities remain dormant until we place our dependence on Him
• Until we act on and confess the Word of God wisdom will lie dormant
• Not using the knowledge given to us is lack of wisdom
• A business may have full inventory of their products but until someone has the wisdom to use them they are of no use
• Enjoying or being replete with knowledge is not sufficient. Without the wisdom to use what we know, we will die a failure
• Jesus has been made wisdom to us and we enjoy it and claim it by faith
• We do not enjoy more of the reality of spiritual truth than we confess
• We receive wisdom only as we make the confession that Jesus is our wisdom
• We rise or fall to the level of our confession
• We have to stop ignoring wisdom’s cry
• There are two levels of wisdom
• Basic wisdom such as knowing to do better and not doing it
• Drawing on God’s wisdom when we are up against a crisis and don’t know which way to go
• Unbelief disguises itself as wisdom such as “it isn't wise to give just now, since you might not have enough money to pay your bills”
II. Wisdom grows out of love, success grows out of wisdom
• Wisdom never acts outside of love
• Love is the basic law of God
• The realm of God’s love makes its own love
• Its law is always above the law of the senses
III. Greater is He that is in you
• We can have:
• God’s will incorporated into our will
• God’s mind incorporated into our mind
• The health and vigor of God incorporated into our bodies
• The strength, the ability and the wisdom of God
• This wisdom is available in daily life
• Colossian 1:9-12 – He has given us the ability to enjoy our inheritance
• Wisdom is the Word
• We need the services of the spiritual Guide that has been offered to us
• We are climbing something much more dangerous than mountains – life in this world
• We need the Holy Spirit
IV. Eternal life promises wisdom
• A man that enjoys eternal life, desires an education
• Jesus said “I am the vine, you are the branches”
• He is wisdom
• We are linked with wisdom
James 1:5 “If you need wisdom – if you want to know what God wants yo to do – ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.”
Heavenly Father, Your Scriptures tell us that we are I to come to you for wisdom. Right now in Jesus’ Name I ask you Abba that you would not only give to us that promised wisdom God. I pray that you would impart into us that wisdom Lord.
As for me personally dear Lord I pray that you instruct me and teach me in the way I should go (Psalm 32:8). Lord guide me, and let me hear your voice, and admonish me whenever I go astray.
I pray for my brothers and sisters to enjoy the gift of discernment; that you guide us to let us know the difference between what is Godly and ungodly. I thank you dear Lord for by the power of the Holy Spirit you have led me to know who and what was sent by you.
Abba, let us all quick to learn, to hear and to actually listen and to be slow to speak and to anger. Abba let the words that we speak be those of wisdom but full of simplicity fo all to understand and be blessed. In Jesus’ Holy Name I pray. Amen
